We made an easy acronym for you to remember these four steps in obtaining your Construction Certificate before building, C-E-R-T:
C - Certificate Acquisition
Secure your Construction Certificate (CC) from either your local council or an accredited private certifier to approve your building plans and specifications.
E - Engage a Principal Certifying Authority
Appoint a Principal Certifying Authority (PCA) to oversee the construction process. This role can be filled by your council or an accredited certifier, ensuring compliance with regulations.
R - Required Notification
Notify both the council and your PCA at least two days before commencing any construction work. This ensures all parties are prepared for the start of the project.
T - Task Completion
Complete any preliminary tasks or works specified in the 'Prior to commencing work' section of your development consent, ensuring all conditions are met before breaking ground.
